Atiq Rehman
Atiq has 37 years of international banking experience at Citi. During this period, he has held several senior leadership positions in regional management and global products.
Until recently, he was CEO of Citi’s Emerging Market business in EMEA where he oversaw the firm’s activities in 29 presence and 30 non-presence countries.
Based out of the UAE, in the last decade Atiq played a key role in developing Citi’s regional hub and propelling the firm to become a leading Corporate and Investment bank in the Emerging Markets. In 2017, he led the initiative involving Citi’s return to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, thereby expanding Citi’s global footprint to the largest economy in the Middle East.
Earlier, based in London, Atiq led Citi’s Emerging Markets debt business covering Asia, EMEA and Latin America. He has been the Global Co-Head of Citi’s Loans and Leveraged Finance business, and also led the Capital Markets Origination business covering debt, equity and derivatives products. During this time, he was responsible for leading some of the most prominent global transactions, including ground-breaking acquisitions, several large and high-profile corporate restructurings, and infrastructure financings both in advanced economies and the emerging markets.
He was the chairman of the board of Citi Islamic Investment Bank in Bahrain and a board member of Citi’s subsidiaries in Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Atiq left Citi in June 2021 to set up new ventures.
